2017 (Ghana): The Foundation
• Launched Phoenix Equipments as a pure-play equipment rental company.
• Identified the "mechanization gap" in small-scale mining operations

2019 (Zimbabwe): The Pivot to Mining
• Established Vegastar International Pvt Ltd.
• Deployed specialized fleets (Excavators, ADTs) for rugged terrain excavation.
• Milestone: Transitioned from rental to Contract Mining, taking operational control of client sites

2020-2022 (The Boom): Strategic Minerals
• Lithium: Contracted to mine 500,000 Tonnes of Lithium ore for a major Chinese conglomerate. This project underpinned the client's subsequent $1 Billion investment in a local Lithium-Ion processing plant.
• Copper: Successfully extracted and moved 120,000 Tonnes of Copper ore.
• Expansion: Registered companies in Namibia, Guinea-Conakry, and Angola to start operations.

2023-Present: Vertical Integration
• Launched in-house Transport & Logistics division to capture the full value chain and reduce client reliance on third-party haulage.
• Expanded expertise into Gold Leaching (Cyanide) and Reef Mining.

Dr. Shekhar Sankpal (Founder & CEO)
  • Born: June 3, 1994

At an age when most peers were navigating entry-level corporate roles, Shekhar
Sankpal was navigating the rugged terrains of West Africa. Leaving behind the
comfort and safety net of his home in India, he arrived in Africa with zero family
backing but an abundance of grit, energy, and a singular vision: to unlock value
where others saw only risk.

The Hustle

Starting from scratch in 2017, Shekhar did not manage from a distance. He lived on-site, learned the local dialects, and built personal relationships with artisanal miners and government officials alike.

The Climb

His journey from a solo entrepreneur to a recognized leader—awarded the Most Successful International Businessman (2023) and honored by the Zimbabwe Miners Federation—is a testament to his "boots on the ground" philosophy.
